Armin Meiwes was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 8 1/2 years in jail this week (January 30) for killing, dismembering and eating a man who mutually agreed to the bizarre death pact.

Prosecutors had tried to convict the man-eater for murder, though Herr Meiwes' video documentation of the whole episode appears to have convinced the court of victim's Bernd Brandes willing participation in the killing.

"Bernd came to me of his own free will to end his life,'' said Herr Meiwes in his closing statement. ''For him, it was a nice death.''

"I'm very sorry for what I've done," he also said in court.

"I had my big kick and don't need to do this any more. It is something I would never do again."

Berlin based rising electro-pop pop producer PET (aka Andre Abshagen) chatted to Skrufff about the case several weeks ago and successfully predicted its eventual outcome.

"It's interesting what they are doing with this guy because he's obviously not murdered the other guy," said Andre.

"But I think it's unfortunate that Meiwes is a German guy, because all the other nations already think of Germany as a barbaric country because of Hitler. It's not very good for Germany's image."
