Ultra-orthodox Muslim leaders in Malaysia called for authorities to ban an upcoming Mariah Carey concert in Kuala Lumpur, this week, to prevent locals being corrupted by her 'sexy and vulgar' performance.

"Allowing such concerts promotes and condones values that are totally contrary to our way of life and our culture," PAS youth leader Ahmad Sabki Yusof claimed.

"We don't want immoral values for our children, whether Muslim or not." (bbc.co.uk)

The fast growing Islamic party recently outlawed miniskirts and 'figure-hugging dresses' for working women in Terengganu, the Eastern Malaysian state they already control, not long after they'd banned dancing. However, they stayed away from Judge Jules' recent Malaysian date, some 200 miles away in Kuala Lumpur.

"Crowd-wise there was no dress difference whatsoever from any other dance event I've played, they were visually very similar to the folk at my Tokyo and Hong Kong events on the same trip," Jules told Skrufff.

"Perhaps there was a disproportionately high amount of Chinese Malaysians there, but it was difficult to tell from the vantage point of the DJ booth. I saw no evidence of radical Islam whatsoever."

"The concert date is confirmed. The only thing that will change is my costumes. Whatever they don't like me to do, I won't do it, but the date stays . . ." Mariah Carey)
