An international survey of sexual behaviour published last week has revealed that French men are over 30% more likely to have had gay sex than their British counterparts with Americans coming somewhere in between.

The Conservative backed Policy Exchange organisation found that 4.9% of Frenchmen admitted to having had at least one homosexual experience, compared to 4.7% of Americans and 3.5% of Brits, casting fresh attention on the views of former French Prime Minister Edith Cresson who famously suggested 'Anglo-Saxons are not interested in women.'

Madam Cresswell made her claim in an interview in 1987 declaring 'in the USA there are already 25 percent of them (homosexuals) and in England and Germany it is much the same. You cannot imagine it (homosexuality) in the history of France."

The same survey also revealed that Brits top the worldwide bondage charts, with an astonishing 38% owning up to dabbling in bondage and S&M sex.

"There's something about the British that is tied up in our class structure, which loves the idea of knowing your place and letting someone else take control," suggested Relate sex therapist Paula Hall (Sunday Times).
