The launch of BREAKING POINT!

Floating Point Music is now home to two labels dedicated to 100% Aussie beats - one focussed on house (deep to tech to vocal - Floating Point) and the other on breaks (electro to break beat - Breaking Point).

Breaking Point is set to kick off with its first release 'Theme One' by Nick Thayer, an awesome concoction of straight-beat breaks. This 12" is expected to land in stores mid-March and will not stay on the shelves for long!

Based in Melbourne, Nick Thayer is a floor-ripping DJ who has honed his skills alongside the worlds best, including Krafty Kuts, Soul Of Man, & Adam Freeland - most recently sending 6000 people ballistic with Friendly at Melbourne's Big Day Out. But Nick truly comes into his own when he's in charge of creating the beats. 'Theme One'is Nick's first single release - a hybrid of break beat and house designed to inspire even the most rhythm challenged amongst us. This track has no pretensions - just made to rock the dancefloor! And it can hardly fail with remixes courtesy of labelmates Bass Kleph (deepening the groove and bumping up the bass) and Mako (electro-fying the whole beat into digital funk).

Check out some preliminary reactions for Nick Thayer 'Theme One':

"This one definitely made me sit up and take notice…Nick's stuff is wicked, he's definitely one to watch." KID KENOBI (Fuzzy)

"An awesome slab of dirty hard funk from one of Australia's best Breaks producers. Brilliant."
FRIENDLY (Fat Records)

"I've been charting this single off cdr for the past three months, so can't wait to get hold of a vinyl copy" MOLE (Boombox Records)

"All three are really strong but I'm surprisingly taken by that jacking groove of Bass Kleph mix. Has had some really good reaction on the dancefloors too! Cheers!" NEIL RAYGUN (Plastic Raygun)

"ORIG "slammin' "straight beat" ….this will rock the shop no doubt!" MAKO- "Very farkin' fonky... Bangin' shiznits" PITTY THE KID (Home)

"Killer Tracks!" TYLER STADIUS (Fabric)
