Naked Music Recordings was founded in 1998 with a clear mission: Release forward-thinking, urban soul music from a diverse roster of up-and-coming artists. Over multiple 12" releases and albums, they've set a new standard in the electronic music world for captivating song-writing and top-notch production, steadily refining a sophisticated, sexy sound that's distinctly Naked.
Along the way, Naked Music has showcased the Petalpusher (AKA Miguel 'Migs'), Blue 6, the vocal talents of Lisa Shaw and Gaelle as well as introducing Aquanote, Central Living, Speakeasy and many others.
In the last year Naked Music has released critically acclaimed full-length albums from their stable of talented artists as well as the global phenomenon that is their Naked Music Compilation series (Nude Dimensions, Nude Tempo, Carte Blanche and Midnight Snack)
With this popularity solidified, Naked Music looked to take their sounds to the people with none other than Mauricio Aviles as one of their exclusive Naked DeeJays
Born in the capitol of El Salvador, Mauricio Aviles immigrated with his parents to San Francisco, California in 1973. Growing up in the Mission District, he was constantly surrounded by the Latin rhythms of the barrio. As a DJ Mauricio's first actual gigs began at the City's bastion of underground vibration, the EndUp. As a protege of Arron Olivares, Mauricio began forming his own sounds and creating a devoted following that are still with him today.
Acknowledging the urban, afro origins of dance music, with a personal blend of his own Latino roots, and a constant endeavour to break new ground, Mauricio's sound is hauntingly personal, emotional and consistently fresh. Creating a niche within the deep house sound, his style, though ethereal, is undeniably funky and always elicits a great response on the dance floor.
With internationally successful compilations under his belt Mauricio continues to develop his production career and act as an emissary for Naked Music, ensuring that America's hottest new dance label is well represented in all corners of the globe.
