Skrufff man-in-New York Larry Tee played to a Charlotte club full of cross dressers, freaks and industrial Goths last weekend, he told Skrufff this week, prompting the electroclash founder to highlight a growing crossover between his electro-disko-punk music and goths.

"We have a new brand of Goths here in America now, called 'gravers'; they're gothic ravers who wear baggy trousers with things like latex lace up corsets, the look is a mix of S&M gear combined with raver gear," Larry told Skrufff.

"There were girls at the Charlotte club with tape on their breasts and boys with faux Westwood Sex necklaces wearing high heeled boots and laced up trousers. It's the ugliest look but nonetheless entertaining and I really like it; I love the fact they're dressing wild."

Larry also highlighted another distinctly New York trend he said has been recently coined by James Murphy from DFA and Mandy from WIT, who are getting married in June.

"Hipster-yuppie-scum' is the other new demographic; they're the people who can zip over to Nag, Nag, Nag from New York, then pop over to Barcelona to see Too Many DJs then on to Rio for a party," he continued.

"They dress as if they don't have any money; you can spot them by their near- Strokes chic twisted with a touch of indie designer clothing."

"Mandy was actually the one who coined it, she said one day 'Oh, we're such hipster-yuppie-scum' and it stuck," said Larry.

"James and Mandy are the hipster-yuppie-scum couple of the moment."
