Hard dance DJs Ed Real and BK have teamed up with industry figures including Riot promoter Nolan Shadbolt and former Amato Distribution chief Jon Rundell to launch a new digital download website Trackitdown.net, which will be offering independent dance music MP3s for £1.50 each.

Trackitdown director Ed Real, who quit his A&R role at Nukleuz Records in December to help set up the site, chatted to Skrufff 18 months ago and revealed back then that he was eager to expand into the business side of club-land.

"Guys like Jules and Paul Oakenfold are pure business machines and the way that they operate and have a stranglehold on the music scene we're in is nothing short of really impressive, it certainly impresses me," Ed admitted.

"People like them who know their game and are really tuned in to what's going on will continue to do very well, but the fact is, a lot of the DJs being paid extortionate amounts of money are old enough to be clubbers' parents and I don't know if they're providing them with exactly what they want, I think age has got to be an issue," he added.

Ed's fellow director Nolan Shadbolt stressed this week that their new site will be covering music genres far beyond their hard dance backgrounds, telling Skrufff 'the site will be launching soon with sections featuring Drum & Bass, Breaks, Techno, Trance, Hardcore, Psy Trance and Lounge. We've also got a special 'Live' section that will offer live sets from live acts around the world; they'll be a lot more than just hard dance music."
