Movement Festival chief Derrick May chatted to Skrufff again this week about the upcoming Detroit street festival and revealed he's not going to be DJing himself.

"I have no intention of playing at the Festival, this is not my event, it's Detroit's event," said Derrick.

"I am more committed to giving young people the chance to play than playing myself. The only way I would play is if somebody was to completely blow out or cancel at the last minute."

Derrick was also scathing about 'player haters' he linked to reports in the US media suggesting that fellow techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson was stepping aside from this year's event

'Kevin is involved; he has always been involved and will always be involved, whatever you read or heard is bullshit," said Derrick.

"Kevin is by our side here in the office creating this event, putting his signature on it and believing in the cause like he always has."

"1 million revellers are expected for the three day free street festival, which runs from May 29-31.

Get your ass over to Detroit and come help save the world from bad music," Derrick added.
