Organisers for Detroit's Movement Festival confirmed this week that this year's event definitely taking place as planned, over the Memorial Day Weekend of May 29-31.

The hugely popular free street festival is being curated by local techno hero Derrick May and will be featuring more than 70 acts and DJs on multiple stages, spread over the weekend.

"We want to bring as much attention to the City of Detroit as possible, because I think this may be the last chance that we may be able to do it through techno music; because I don't know if there's going to be a next generation of young musicians coming through to follow up in our footsteps." Derrick told Skrufff earlier this year.

"Our intention is to make Movement like Sonar (Barcelona's world renowned music and arts festival) in some ways; we want to showcase and give exposure to, not just local young talent, but also to artists from across the country," he said.
