Where has all the vinyl gone!!
At the risk of sounding a bit tecky this month I've just gotta shout about the new thing going on the world of Djing. Its the introduction of software mixing. If you've recently been to see Dj's like Sasha, Gabriel & Dresden and Jon 00 Flemming you might have wandered where all >the vinyl went and why there not even playing CD's anymore. The answer is mixing just went virtual and now it can all be done on your lap top. This company called Ableton have just developed a piece of software called Live in which you can get tracks, vocals , beats or any musical part and remix them live like you would in a recording studio but with all the ease of mixing two perfectly matched tunes together off vinyl.

Its only just starting to catch on but a year or so from now your never gonna hear anything like it especially with all the special fx your they will now be able to pull off. Each Dj will have total control over the elements of there set allowing them to mix and match any element from virtually any tune. Dj sets will no longer be a string of other peoples records but a unique remix of and rearrangement of tracks. Sets will become kind of like one big bootleg. There's no turning back now cause its definitely the biggest thing that's happened to shape the sound of a live set since the days when US hip hop Dj's started scratching tunes together on three decks at a time. I've been having a go myself every time I'm on a flight somewhere and its absolutely amazing what you can do with it. Only thing is the DJ is now in danger of looking like a proper geek cause vinyl has still got that certain something when it comes to live performance so lets hope someone comes up with a way to spice it all up a bit.

DECADE
It has now been a decade since Trance started to emerge as a significant part of club culture and my first big tune became one of Pete Tong's first essential new tunes from the trance genre and Paul Oakenfold pioneered the same under the guise of Goah Trance. Well I've been churning out those tunes for over 10 years now so I thought its about time I released my first album entitled DECADE. The album features the best of all the classics under my various pseudonyms from the past, present and future with all my biggest anthems like "Beautiful", "Liberation" and "Lost Tribe - Gamemaster" along with all the club tracks like Moody, Nocturnal Delight, From Russia With love and the current and future releases on my new label Darey Products such as "Li Kwan - Point Zero2004", "Lost Tribe - Possessed" and the first signing and forthcoming release on Matt's new label Darey Products "Adam White - Ballerina". Decade is available now exclusively at http://www.dareyproducts.co.uk To celebrate the Darey Products label and Decade Album launch we're throwing a party on Dec 17th with Knowwhere @ The Fridge in London for more details and advance tickets go to http://www.clubknowwhere.co.uk.
