New York's best-known dance journalist Trish Romano ridiculed the artists and DJs selected for the upcoming Dancestar Awards in Miami, this week, complaining 'what year is it-1994-'

"Dance music's Golden Globes are the DanceStar USA Awards and the nominees are for the most part worse than the Grammys and the Oscars combined, since the organization continues to reward the stale and traditional," she wrote in her Village Voice column.

"For example, in the Best Act category, judges are forced to choose between banalities such as BT, Deborah Cox, and the Crystal Method."

Her comments came just weeks after Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook singled out the event in a piece suggesting 'award fatigue' is setting in.

"I think there's just award overkill at the moment," Cook told the Guardian.

"First there was just the Brits, then there was Q, then Dancestar, the whatever else. The significance of the award is definitely weakened by the amount of them," he claimed.
