Legendary London techno champion Mrs Wood has teamed up with Lady Bianca to host a new monthly techno night at Vauxhall's Fire which they're promising will provide a distinctly female friendly vibe and attitude.

"With hardly any techno events happening in London today, and definitely none run by women, the scene needs us like we need the scene," the pair said in a statement issued this week.

"Instead of bang, bang, bang we give you warm grooves and gorgeousness from the hearts of us women," they promised.

Six years ago Mrs Wood was the fop female DJ in DJ magazine's top 100 DJs poll though even then was unhappy with the state of the London techno scene and its male dominated bias.

"I'm very disappointed in the British, we are exporting a great techno scene to the world, and you can go and play techno anywhere in the world but not in Britain, it's ridiculous," she told Jonty Skrufff.

"There's the really purist scene, which I call "Lad's techno", where they're all into minimal, one level music, with no raving, and no 'arms in the air', it's not good time music".

Think Techno starts on Wednesday May 5 with guests Andy Farley and Ian M. Squat party/ acid tekno veterans Stay Up Forever host Room 2. Future events take place on the first Wednesday of each month, with Trevor Rockliffe and Ben Sims lined up for July 7)
