Health officials in the Czech Republic warned this week that capsules containing ultra-strong drug DOB are in circulation in the Eastern Europe country, after one man died and another was hospitalised last week.

"Our radio station was sent some information about the drug from the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Dependency, which is a reliable source," said
Skrufff's new contributor Jana Kománková (Jana also works for Prague's Radio 1).

"Two men suffered really serious poisoning after taking the unknown capsules and one of them died several days later. The report said these were small plastic capsules containing white powder which the men are believed to have consumed with alcohol, marijuana and cocaine," she continued.

Writing in his definitive drug information book PIHKAL, ecstasy expert Alexander Shulgin warned that death through overdosing on DOB is a significant risk, particularly for users mistaking the drug was something else. Definitive drug source erowid.org also warns that DOB's slow acting effect poses an increased risk of serious harm, even for those using it knowingly.

"Reports of moderate overdoses appear to often be the result of individuals deciding an hour after their original dose that because they aren't feeling anything they didn't take enough. Be Careful! DOB can take up to 3 hours to onset for some individuals," erowid's website warns.

"The overdose experience seems to be one of memory loss, irrational and sometimes violent behaviour, and the possibility of causing harm to oneself (not noticing pain-)"

Erowid.org also warns that some DOB users have also needed to have their legs amputated, due to related circulation problems.
