Security staff at a re-union party for 80s New York superclub Palladium refused to allow drag queens to use both the Mens' and Womens' toilets at the Hammerstein Ballroom last week, apparently in confusion at their gender.

The New York Post reported this week that club land figures including Kenny Kenny, Sophia La Mar and Gigolo Records' icon Amanda Lepore were ordered out of both the ladies bathrooms then later the men's room, despite being hired as performers for the 80s superclub's reunion event.

"We walked back to the women's room and the security guard said, 'Don't even think about going in,' drag queen Scooby told the Post. "They weren't just harassing drag queens; some of us have had sex changes and are technically women."

Amanda Lapore recently became the logo and official icon for DJ Hell's Gigolo Records and speaking of his decision to hire her earlier this year, the German electro star displayed no such confusion.

"She's the ultimate future lady, she really represents Gigolo in the best way, I wouldn't call Amanda a drag queen, she's a transsexual and she's such a great person, I've been really inspired be her and what she's doing," said Hell.

"Her look isn't even an image, what she did with her body is the ultimate change, she shows what's possible in this world today. I think she looks great and sometimes scary, in a way, she's perfect, you can't change anything. She's an icon, I think she's really futuristic and glamorous," he declared.
