Gigolo Records' chief DJ Hell was forced to pull out of three UK DJ dates at the last minute, last weekend, after suffering a sciatica attack and also losing sensation and sensitivity in his hands.

"He's still got virtually no feelings in his hands and fingers and is suffering from a herniated disc in his back," Hell's DJ press officer told Skrufff this week.

"He's just emailed me today to say he's in hospital again and they are doing lots of tests."

The German electro star pulled out of eagerly anticipated dates at The Boutique in Brighton and the Arches in Scotland as well as Damian Lazarus' Slash & Burn party in London, forcing Damian to take emergency action, he told Skrufff.

"Hell was unfortunately forced to cancel with serious back problems, I quote from his email; 'A DJ's life is limited and for now I am out of the business'," said Damian, "so we organised the guvnor, Andrew Weatherall, to step in and fill his shoes. We informed everyone at the door that Hell had cancelled and in the event, we had no complaints."

"Looking out from behind the decks it felt like was witnessing the rebirth of acid house," he continued.

"I hope Hell recovers soon and can return to the business of playing records as quickly as possible, though we have no current plans ourselves to bring him back to London."

DJ Hell's press spokesperson initially suggested Hell would be back behind the decks within days, though issued a statement on Thursday (April 15) saying he's now undergoing additional tests.

"Under medical advice Hell has to cancel this coming weekend's gigs in Edinburgh and Birmingham," they said,

Hell wishes to apologise to all the fans and people who were looking forward to see him and the one true Gigolo hopes to be back in the saddle as soon as possible."

Hell's (presumably still to be confirmed) next UK dates are as follows:

30 April: FRIDAY: London: Plastic People

02 May: SUNDAY: Nottingha: Sunglasses at Night @ The Social
08 May: SATURDAY: Belfast: Shine @ QUBSU
15 May: SATURDAY: London: Bugged Out! @ The End
