According to the accompanying press release Dance Modern's selection 'effectively unites the post-Electroclash climate' and it's certainly a highly camp compilation that mixes and matches 80s era leftfield disco with brand new song based electro-pop.

Kicking off relatively slowly Headman (real name Robi Insinna) gets cracking four tracks in with Landshark's (newish) Tie Me Up, before stepping up another gear with Divine's 70s trash-disco classic Divine (which segues into a lovely sequence of electro-pop newies from Rex The Dog, Chromeo and Franz Ferdinand ).

Throughout the emphasis is on songs rather than grooves, Rockers Revenge's Walking On Sunshine and Lene Lovich's Lucky Numbers sounding as contemporary as Alter Ego's Tube Action and Mylo's Drop The Pressure sound retro.
