Cock Cutting Craze Hits America

An angry American man chopped off his penis with a machete and left it by the roadside, US website Team4news.com revealed this week.

Virgilio Maldonado reportedly found Oscar Hernandez' severed appendage lying on top of a bag of cement in Alton (Illinois) and contacted police, who managed to reunite it with Mr Hernandez at the local hospital.

"I thought maybe this was a jealous rage or a wife upset. I never thought that a man could do this to himself at least not one in his right mind," said Mr Maldonado.

Though local police later said Mr Hernandez was mentally ill, the incident matched recent cases in Africa, where self-mutilation appears to be becoming increasingly common. Over Christmas, Reuters reported that 26 year old Kenyan Stephen Ongala chopped off one of his testicles 'after a disagreement with his wife' while in October a 38 Kenyan chopped off both his testicles and penis 'to teach his wife a lesson' (Western Daily Press). Also in Africa, two Tanzanian men castrated themselves last year (in separate incidents) in bizarre attempts to placate angry creditors.
