German techno giant Chris Liebing is to release a compilation mix CD comprising all 44 tracks from his acclaimed previously vinyl only Stigmata series and is also making all 44 tracks available as free downloads, so fans can mix their own compilations.

"Bringing 44 tracks together on one CD which has only about 74 minutes running time and making it sound good and interesting to listen to, is quite difficult with turntables," Chris said this week, explaining he's instead used Ableton's software digital programme LIVE.

"LIVE is the perfect tool and also extremely user friendly," he continued. "The Stigmata sound files happen to be perfect audio examples due to the nature of their loop oriented dance floor production, meaning anyone can put together their own unique version of the Stigmata compilation," he added.

His decision to offer the sound files for free reflects his unusually philosophical view of music, which he discussed with Skrufff last year.

"Electronic music is one of the first musical phenomena to have spread out globally, in the true meaning of the word. It brings people together from all social, racial, religious, and political backgrounds like no other music has ever done before," said Chris.

"And isn't that the role music should have- It makes us aware that even if just for one specific moment in time, we're all looking for the same things and we're all trying to achieve them using the same strategy."

('Stigmata is spontaneous manifestation of bloody wounds on a person's hands, feet, forehead and back - similar to the wounds of the crucified Jesus . . .')
