London dance duo the Chemical Brothers have been announced as the star attraction for this year's Creamfields festival, which takes place at the usual location of the Old Liverpool Airport on the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The pair have never previously played live at the rave though DJed there in 2003 and told Skrufff they'd been thoroughly impressed.

"Creamfields was as good as any of those big events we've ever done; the people were mad for it and the crowd was fantastic," said Ed.

"It's a social event, where people meet each other and have fun together and that's really important. The heart of both events is dance music."

Ed also revealed that performing remains an activity they particularly enjoy.

"The memories are great, though there isn't one all defining moment form the last ten years," he said.

"Seeing people enjoying themselves is great. Watching crowds all with their hands in the air abandoning themselves gives you a certain warm glow when you're driving home."

Darren Emerson's Underwater will also be hosting a marquee for the first time (headlined by Lottie, Tim Deluxe, Paul Jackson and Josh Wink) as are hard house champions Tidy Trax, bringing Lisa Lashes, BK, Rob Tissera and Andy Farkey to Liverpool. Other star names include Goldfrapp (live), Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Judge Jules, Christopher Lawrence and Dave Clarke.
