Chicks On Speed, LCD Sound System, and legendary Detroit techno producer Carl Craig are amongst scores of electronic acts playing live at the first ever TDK Cross Central Festival in London, which takes place around The Cross/ Canvas complex at the end of August.

The three-night affair features 8 stages and sound systems located in and around both clubs and The Key, with an eclectic alternative cast of bands and DJs confirmed including Derrick May, Damian Lazarus, Jazzanova and Gilles Peterson.

"We're not a huge festival so we don't need to be too overtly commercial, we can be forward thinking too," event organiser Tubbs told Skrufff.

"Club music, live music and different genres are very fragmented at the moment but there's lots of cross-pollination going on, and I think music is at an interesting crossroads right now," he continued.

"So we've got the likes of 2 Many DJs, Richard X and The Glimmer Twins appearing who are very tuned in to taking different sorts of music and putting them together as one."

Return To New York, XFM and local music pub The Lock Tavern will be hosting stages throughout the weekend while outdoor stages have the additional facility of shelter if it rains ('though it never rains on August bank holidays', Tubbs confidently predicted). Tickets are being sold for individual nights rather than for all three with Tubbs anticipating a boost when the Notting Hill Carnival kicks off on Sunday.

"The sound systems at the Carnival shut down at 7pm and we've got a very generous licence here, running to 6am on the Sunday night, which means people can do both," he pointed out.

"We're not going up against Carnival, we're offering something extra."
