Carl Cox is coming.....Back to Mine

Author: DMC

Stepping up to the plate for the 19th excursion of this quintessential compilation series for 'after hours grooving' is techno legend Carl Cox. Having grown up with the sound of soul in his blood, hijacking his folks' Booker T and the MGs, Aretha Franklin and even Elvis 45s to get his family moving, he has now established himself as a true legend in his own right at the forefront of dance music. His exclusive selection for Back To Mine, recorded live this summer at Cafe Mambo in Ibiza, takes in this full spectrum of influences and personal favourites, as well as showcasing one of his own productions, the mesmeric 'Mission (Give Me your Love)'

Cox carved out his immaculate DJ reputation on the infamous London Orbital rave circuit from the 1988 Summer Of Love, when he first thought of hooking up a third turntable for his set and the 3-deck wizard was born in front of 15,000 party people. Productions followed (leading to a performance on Top Of The Pops in 1992), but the buzz of the dancefloor continued to be his driving force, taking Cox's direction back underground and to the setting up of some of the world's premiere techno club nights, labels and releases as well as countless awards around the globe.

This selection, seamlessly mixed where the beats allow it, takes in the disco-heavy influences that form the roots of his musical career, delving a little further out of the norm for The Style Council's classic 'Long Hot Summer' and even offering a dose of original RnB supergroup Jodeci in the form of 'You Got It'.

Cox's own 'Mission (Give Me Your Love)' from his forthcoming album provides a taste of what to expect from him in the coming months, and helps close the album along with two majestic cuts from 808 State and Coco Steele and Lovebomb.

Carl Cox: Back To Mine will be released on CD and vinyl, and is the 19th release in the series which has also featured the likes of Lamb, Tricky, Richard X , EBTG, Groove Armada and Underworld putting together their finest after hours collections.
