The laidback Ibizan venue Cafe del Mar will be celebrating 25 years of chilled out tunes and sunsets with a special commemorative compilation due out in November...

The double CD will feature artists previously included on past compilations since the first in 1994 on CD 1 and new and unheard of artists will be showcased on CD 2, Cafe del Mar are looking for submissions for the second CD with a final date of 15th April for new material.

The San Antonio based bar was opened in June 1980 by Catalan Architect Lluis Geell, who single handedly started the ethos of a good seafront venue playing relaxing music as you watch the sun go down, this can now be seen in the number of venues on the so-called Sunset Strip. Probably the only place we can think of were the sun gets a round of applause as it sets.

The 25th commemorative compilation will be the third of three releases due out this year from the Cafe del Mar label, with 'Cafe del Mar Classic 2' due out first for release in March or April followed by 'Cafe del Mar Volume 11' out this summer.

There are certain rules for submitting material for the 25th commemorative compilation which should be seen on the Cafe del Mar website. The address for any material you'd like to send to Cafe del Mar for consideration is as follows:-
