Thailand authorities approved new laws this week forcing nightspots to shut at midnight, except for various 'entertainment zones' such as Bangkok's notorious red light district of Patpong. Venues in the special areas will have to close by 1am or 2am, depending if they're classed as 'discoteques' or 'clubs'.

Clubs and bars throughout the South East Asian country will be affected by the new regulation, local newspaper The Nation reported, prompting nightclub owners to pronounce it a 'death sentence for businesses and bad news for tourism'.

The government did, however, temporarily relent from introducing a permanent 10pm curfew for unaccompanied under 18s, which Bee from Bangkok electro-pop band Futon told Skrufff could have included provisions banning under 18s from 'having sex, breaking school dress codes, dyeing hair and using rude words and gestures."

"Futon are off to Singapore tonight for the MTV Asia Awards," Bee added.

"We shall also be staying up way past our bedtime and drinking lots," he promised.
