Scores of Thai police raided Bangkok nightclub The Q Bar last week, drug testing all 400 revellers and detaining 104 "foreigners' for failing to carry their passports.

Just two clubbers failed the urine tests during the three hour raid, though all the tourists were bussed to a police station where they were fined before being released (The State, Thailand).

Skrufff's Man-in-Bangkok Bee said such raids are increasingly common with cops sometimes raiding nightclubs every other day.

"Q Bar is one of the most popular clubs for Westerners, though that doesn't mean it's good, its music is essentially house and its clientele very yuppie," B explained.

"Until about a year ago no-one carried a passport when they went out because they were never asked for them but lately the cops have announced that all westerners must carry passports, so a lot of bars won't let you in without ID; some actually insist on passports only," he continued.

"And as far as drugs are concerned, I'd strongly urge people to just say no," he stressed.

"And also be warned; just because you can buy valium and pills at some high street chemists doesn't mean they're legal; you have been sold them illegally and can get busted for possessing them," he warned.
