Australian charm reduction organisation Dance Safe warned this week that traffic cops in the state of Victoria are to begin randomly drug-testing drivers from Monday (December 13) following the introduction of new laws on December 1.

Police will be actively targeting drivers in "entertainment precincts' and those leaving "nightclubs and big outdoor concerts' (The Age) though according to a recent survey of ecstasy use, drugs are nowadays so "mainstream' in Australia that anywhere is a potential drug den.

"I've interviewed people who use ecstasy at RSLs (ex-army social clubs); people take drugs and go to the beach," National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre spokesman Paul Dillon told the Melbourne Sun last month.

"We have GHB overdoses at cinemas. That is a very different type of drug use than you would have seen a decade ago," he said.
