London's always experimental sonic terrorists Nation Records this week announced details of their first ever label compilation with a surprising admission that they're hoping to reclaim the UK's coffee tables.

"We've always challenged the notion of world music being a nice, conservative sound-track for middle aged couples," the accompanying press release/ manifesto stormed.

"Tracks that we released over ten years ago are being snapped up for major label 'chill-out' compilations to sit alongside stuff that was recorded last week. OK, we've never had anything in the charts but success shouldn't just be measured in levels of success- McDonalds sell millions of burgers but that doesn't mean they taste good!"

State Of The Nation includes tracks from Transglobal Underground, Asian Dub Foundation, TJ Rehmi and house band agit-provocateurs Fun-Da-Mental and is scheduled for an April release.

"So drop your trousers and bear witness to the State Of The Nation their manifesto concludes.
