Derrick May, Richie Hawtin, Danny Rampling and Judge Jules are amongst scores of A list DJs who'll be spinning at the inaugural South American Music Conference, which takes place in Buenos Aires over the weekend of December 11.

The showcase event will be a five arena Saturday night dance festival catering for 30,000 revellers though, like Miami, organisers are arranging parallel seminars, workshops and parties throughout the weekend to attract music industry types to the Argentine capital.

The conference is likely to provide serious competition to March's Miami Winter Conference, particularly given new visa regulations making travelling to the States even more difficult (all visitors are now finger printed and photographed while all industry professionals need working visas). Organisers also insist Buenos Aires is an "enlightened city' (presumably significantly less strictly regulated than Miami) promising "parties that start late and don't end until the last turntable is turned off'.

"The South American Music Conference is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the most important events in the worldwide electronic scene, in a city that truly never sleeps," they add.
