Aphrodite & Micky Finn Australian/NZ tour Announced

Micky Finn and Aphrodite are two stalwart characters within the drum'n'bass world. For years they have been pioneers of phatness - both under the guise of Urban Takeover and as individuals - moulding beats, trends and styles like a skilled potter manipulates clay. As well as spinning up a storm across the globe, and spreading the dnb gospel to places many other DJs wouldn't dare go, both men are responsible for some of the biggest tunes in the genre's history.

Micky Finn erupted into the scene in the late 80s, sparked by the annoyance of DJs interrupting tunes he was trying to record on tape. He built his reputation for annihilating dance floors during the acid house movement, and was already marked for greatness by the early 90s as jungle began to emerge. By November 2002, Micky released a mix CD titled "Takeover Bid II" through global dance music network DMC, completed another worldwide tour, and racked up an insane CV of playing over 900 cities since his induction. Micky has also collaborated with the likes of Beastie Boys, Moby, Jungle Brothers, Carl Cox, Apollo 440 and Aphrodite.

Aphrodite, known as Mr Gavin King to his bank manager, is a name synonymous with tearing, floor-shuddering sets. Alongside Micky, he runs the "Urban Takeover" label dedicated to tracks by new and established dnb talent. Aphrodite Recordings is Gavin's solo label now releasing on V2 Records. With over 40 releases, his remixes and DJing is setting toes tapping in far reaches of the planet. Known for his mix of classic and exclusive dubplates, Aphro has typified this in the 2003 release of the "Urban Junglist" compilation on his Aphrodite label, which featured Peshay, High Contrast, MC Fearless, Skibadee as well as a whole heap of new original talent.

Both Micky Finn and Aphrodite have always looked to push the boundaries and expand on ideas. Now they're moving forward by looking back. For the first time ever, Micky Finn and Aphrodite are touring Australia as a combined force(with some solo dates in New Zealand), and they're bringing their old favourites. Their extensive time in the industry has allowed the men to amass a record collection of epic proportions, including old classics, hard-to-find favourites and positively rare gemstones. Now the lucky Oceanic public will be able to hear it all, mixed up and thrown down, along with brand spanking new tracks and the freshest dub plates, unheard by human ears.

The tour expands over October and November, so be sure to keep an eye and an ear out or you might miss the chance of being newly educated in the genre by two of the toughest teachers in the biz.
