Anything But Roy EP Launch

Anything But Roy, aka ABR, are set to become one of Australia's most exciting live electronic percussion acts.

Formed originally as a percussion trio in 2000, ABR are now a foursome consisting of Ron Reeves, Reza Achman, Deva Permana and Ian Watson.

ABR's set-up is unique in that it combines traditional Indonesian and South-East Asian instruments with a conventional drum kit, samplers, electronics, synths, as well as vocalizing and the occasional break dancing. The results, is the delivery of an energetic dance based performance playing grooves of house, drum 'n' bass, dub, hip-hop and traditional sounds.

The last couple of years has seen ABR collaborate with a number of rappers included Maya Jupiter, MC Nomise, MC Jonah and resident MC Morganics, and their low profile has been maintained to allow the group to develop and discover sounds and styles that are nothing like you've ever heard before.

Now in 2003, ABR finally exposed themselves to Australian audiences by becoming headliners at Big Drum Up, Belligen Global Carnival, Riddem Fest 2 and the recent Woodford Folk Festival. With the completion of their 'Anything and Everything' coast to coast tour, Anything But Roy will conclude their tour by launching their debut EP at The Basement on Wednesday 28th January.

Playing a sound that is not often heard by other live electronic acts, Anything But Roy will execute a spectacular performance of live beat-boxing, free-styling, live percussion, drumming and plenty more. Their show is definitely not for the faint hearted. Special guests will include MC Morganics, Maya Jupiter, Jonah, DeepChild and support act TUFA.

Be sure not to miss what is going to be an explosive and mind-blowing show!

Tickets are available at the door for $14. For more info, please call Gigz.Org Events on 02 9311 1451 / 0410 768 767 or email: abrmusic@hotmail.com
