Two Thai revellers were shot and killed at last weekend's Full Moon Party on Koh Pha-ngan, after another group of revellers chatted up one of the victim's girlfriends. Local press reports said a male friend of the dead men was also shot and wounded during the horrific attack though police failed to arrest anyone, claiming both groups were unknown tourists.

In more bad news for Thailand's tourism industry, Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth office warned Brits and Westerners to avoid Southern Thailand this week, because of the threat of terrorist attacks (AP). Israeli authorities, meanwhile, urged their citizens to avoid the country altogether, citing a 'five-motorbike bomb threat by Muslim extremists' (Debka).

The Bangkok Post also confirmed that Bangkok police are stepping up anti-terror measures around tourist red light/club district Patpong and the backpacker hub Khao San Road, particularly during this week's Songkran Water Festival.

However, Skrufff's new man-in-Bangkok, Beee suggested many local clubbers remain more alarmed about the authorities' escalating anti-nightlife drive than fanatical Islamic terrorists.

"No-one I know is concerned about the terrorist threat, they're too busy dealing with the police state reality," said Beee.

"People have stopped going out because they are scared of being caught up in raids and having to wait up to four hours to be man-handled and piss tested by scary men in uniforms with big guns."
