15,000 Pack Singapore Zoukout

Over 15,000 revellers attended Singapore's recent Zoukout festival, said Skrufff roving reporter Diego Laje, enjoying a drug free event and an extended 3 hour set from superstar trance jock Paul Van Dyk.

"The event was really well organised with a very good and free atmosphere," said Diego. "And while some people were really wasted, it was definitely down to alcohol, with no drug soliciting or evidence of substance use whatsoever. There were also cops everywhere but they didn't bother anybody and the event really showed Singapore in its best light."

"As well as Van Dyk, Timo Maas, Satoshi Tomiie, Seb Fontaine and loads of others DJed in ultra hot electrifying conditions, and though massive thunder storms threatened to burst throughout the event they failed to materialise, to all round relief.

The outdoor party (which returned to its original home on Sentosa's Tanjong Beach) was decorated in traditional Far Eastern style, with many pieces of Chinese decoration accompanying traditional oriental attractions such as palm reading, numerology and Chinese massage as well as belly dancing displays and, incongruously South Bronx style hip hop music. The scratching show presented by Jazzy Jeff in Arena C was particularly amazing though the MC spoiled things with his relentless repetition of two words: "Singapore" and "Fucking".

Under police supervision the dress code was plain, though some dared go a little further including both locals and foreigners. Asian people look stunning in plain clothes anyway, contributing to what's become a world class event on a par with the best raves anywhere else.
