Yoko Ono's re-enactment of her performance art anti-war protest Cut Piece in Paris passed off successfully last week, though bashful French participants refrained from snipping off her knickers.

Writing in the programme accompanying the event (which happened almost 40 years after the first time she did it, Yoko explained she'd been motivated by the political climate in the West.

"Following the political changes through the year after 9/11, I felt terribly vulnerable - like the most delicate wind could bring me tears," she said.

"Cut Piece is my hope for world peace."

Speaking to Skrufff earlier this year, she also stressed the need for taking personal responsibility.

"When you're thinking peace and you're at peace yourself, you're already part of the peaceful world," she said.

"What it means is that each one of us is a being who has an unlimited power. So there are billions of us with unlimited power but what is stopping us- The only thing that's stopping us is those things that they (Western authorities) feed us; fear, confusion and ignorance."
