Wu Tang's O'l Dirty Bastard Prepares to Leave Jail

Much troubled US rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard is working on his new album and is due to be released from prison shortly, NME reported this week.

The Wu Tang Clan character has served almost three years in a notoriously violent American jail for drug crimes, though is likely to be embraced by both fans and the music industry, judging by remarks made by his old Electra A&R Dante Ross.

"His dysfunction was the attraction, to an extent," Dante said last year, when asked why he'd signed him.

"You don't come across a character like that too often. He was a calamity (disaster) waiting to happen. That's kind of the beauty of it." (The Guardian)
