Tony De Vit Fundraiser Returns to The Source (June 29)
Author: Jonty Skrufff
Saturday, June 14, 2003
The daytime party takes place on Sunday June 29, at the Nightingale, Birmingham, the club where De Vit held his first residency, before moving to London's Trade to pioneer hard house and trance in the capital. The hugely popular character died 5 years ago though opened doors for all the DJs performing that remain firmly open today.
"We happened to be friends with Blu Peter, we had a mix on the B side of one of his records, and Blu Peter introduced us to Tony one night when he was playing at Trade," S-J told Skrufff in a recent interview.
"We didn't know anyone there at all at the time," she recalled.
"But Tony had already started playing Baby Doc's productions there so people were more like 'Oh they're the people that make those records that Tony plays."
