61,000 people voted in this year's poll, from countries including Iran, Papau New Giunea and Fiji, which saw 19 new entries including 2 Many DJs (85) and a return for Felix Da Housecat (77). Female jocks also retained a significant presence, Lisa Lashes (26) and Anne Savage (48) pipping (Misstress Barbara (49), Lady Dana (55), Lisa Pin-Up (60) and Lottie (75) in the ranks.
"While scare-mongers bleated on about the death of dance music, we received a record-breaking number of votes from 120 countries around the world," said DJ editor Lesley Wright.
"What kind of message does that send out- It's a massive two-fingered salute to those who have been desperate to bury this scene and the music we love. Dance music and the people who love it ain't going anywhere."
Carl Cox, (7), Paul Oakenfold (8) and Judge Jules (9) retained their top 10 placings, suggesting little has changed at the top end of the worldwide DJ market.
