On September 20 2003, the fifth installment of the War of the Worlds (WOTW) series is set to take place in Melbourne. The scale is larger but the commitment to the vision remains the same. With a production and promotions effort that is sure to surpass all expectations, War of the Worlds V promises to deliver what will inevitably be the 'party of the year' for 2003.

This year features a huge international and local lineup which includes Melbuournes renowned live electronic act:

DEA

In 1998, on the most infamous stage in Australia, Digital Experimental Audio was born….What started out as a post party jam between friends after a big night out, resulted in Australia's most recognized live duo consisting of Melbourne craftsmen, Richard Sekesan and John Barker.

The inception of the DEA turned out to be the experience of a lifetime! On a stage set up for the Advent, the DEA banged it out in a deep, dark and dirty fashion - a sound that has now made them famous.

Both Richard Sekesan and John Barker have long been regarded as two of Melbourne's premier musicians. Together, they bring over 25 years of unsurpassed musical talent to the DEA.

Richard Sekesan has long been experimenting with audio manipulation. Before the DEA he headed up electronic four piece, Audio Meltdown and prior to that, Alice Dee. As well as writing and producing music, Richard also heads up the promotional team for Australia's largest dance music festivals including the Welcome [New Years Eve], Two Tribes and the Summadayze event series.

John Barker is undoubtedly wired for sound! He boasts over 15 years of experience in sound and music production, touring with cult bands such as Nirvana and The Prodigy. As well as the DEA, John now works as the Production/Sound Manager for the largest producers of dance music in the country, Hardware and Future Entertainment.

Combined they deliver true heart accelerating, deep, fat and dirty grooves with drive and dynamics igniting the most infinite power cables of the mind. Their live performance also incorporates futuristic audio and visual mind reconstruction with the visual forces of Melbourne based video artists, Phoku, heightening the entire sensory experience.

With their sexy, dark and mutated dirty techno, the DEA have supported some of the worlds most inspirational DJ's and live artists including: CJ Bolland, Sven Vath, The Advent, Dave Clarke, Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills.

Since their fist performance, The DEA have astounded crowds with their infusion of dramatic, eclectic and simply unforgettable techno.

"I arrived as Melbourne duo THE DEA were rocking the floor. The considerable following this awesome live act is building continues to impress. Their live sets of banging techno with considerable use of vocal loops is becoming increasingly accessible and is an excellent warm up to any international. In Melbourne we love to stomp and THE DEA certainly keep the punters happy."
