Leading London electro-trash photographer/ transvestite scenester Tatu chatted to Skrufff this week and suggested that over-the-top, 80s style, 'freaky dressing' is definitely taking off again in England.

"There are lots more young people between 18 and 25 doing it, it's also trendy for men to wear high heels and stilettos, it doesn't matter if you're gay or straight," said Tatu.

"I've also noticed the house scene getting more into freaky dressing up again, the atmosphere seems a lot more open now."

The ultra-flamboyant former New York club kid has been documenting London clubbers for the last 12 months on his fantastic photo-gallery website markusinteractive.com/clubs
"Dressing up doesn't have to be a gender thing. If women are able to wear trousers then men should be able to skirts too, it's an equality thing. We rarely do tits."

He was also happy to share some fashion secrets for the new style.

"You don't have to have a perfect made-up look, it's about borrowing elements that are outside everyday normal boring clothing. It's also important to have a fun component in your dressing, so if your eyeliner isn't exactly right, then that's still OK."" he said.

"Another point to mention is to think practically," he added.

"While it's good to wear really great high heels, for example, you have to remember you need to be able to walk in them for hours."

"People also often ask me how I get glittery lips: The secret is; put eyelash glue on your lips, then loose glitter on top," he said.

Tatu and Mikku host Independence Loyly on Friday December 5, at Crash, with DJs including Fil OK, Jean Michelle and Mr A (Helsinki). Tickets cost £8 (with comp drinks for those dressed seriously freaky).

"We're not so bothered about trying to look like real women with tits (fake breasts- slang Ed.)" Tatu stressed.
