Trance/ techno/ house pioneers System 7 have released a new live compilation CD, recorded at the Tokiodrome, Liquid Room in Tokyo, on August 17th 2002. The new album is being sold exclusively via the internet, initially on Gong's website Planetgong.co.uk.

"People often remark that our live set sounds different from our records," said System 7 mainman Steve Hillage, explaining what prompted the new CD.

"Here's an opportunity to check it out."

System 7 were one of the first acid house acts to successfully translate their studio-based music to a live setting, gaining a massive reputation via numerous gigs Megadog Festivals in the early 90s and at Glastonbury Festival (where they continue to perform each year. Original pioneers of what later became known as psychedelic trance, they also always excelled at atmospheric chill-out music.

"I tend to steer clear of the trance word because it's a bit toxic," Steve told Skrufff earlier this year.

"I'd still really describe our music as ambient techno which for me implies trance. We like house music too and we like to be in that spot where they all meet up.
