Swayzak Don't Dance Alone At Fabric

Swayzak have selected and mixed Fabric's next compilation CD (Fabric 11) marking another significant milestone for the increasingly high-profile Anglo-Scottish duo. The pair made their name producing synth based electro style music, only launching their DJing careers last year.

"I was never a serious DJ," James said this week. "We just used to go to lots of house parties, listen to records, watch telly (TV) and smoke hash."

The new mix CD is both entertaining and highly listenable, merging achingly hip new electro tracks from the likes of LCD Sound System, Metro Area and Louie Austen alongside well chosen 80s rarities from Thomas Dolby, Ciccione Youth (aka Sonic Youth) and Negativland. Chatting to Skrufff recently, Swayzak's David Brown (the Scottish one) admitted they've been heavily inspired by the 80s renaissance.

We grew up from the time when synth pop was around," he admitted.

"We'd forgotten about it then we started playing live in Germany a lot and we started hearing DJs playing Gigolo stuff and mixing it up with stuff like Human League, Throbbing Gristle and minimal house. We got inspired by it," he said.

Fabric 11- Swayzak is due for release on July 7 and will be available at Fabric Online's usual bargain price of £6 (+postage) for subscribers.
