A 17 year old street robber who viciously assaulted and robbed 80s New Romantic hero Steve Strange was found guilty of GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) this week, after a two day trial in a central London court.

The assault happened in the early hours of March 7 on Great Russell Street, Holborn as the former Visage frontman walked home after a DJ gig. The homeless youth attacked him with a blunt instrument after Strange refused to give him £5, leaving him with serious facial injuries requiring 28 stitches.

"I could have died or lost an eye, I feel lucky to be alive," Strange told the Mirror.

"I've suffered some really traumatic flashbacks and nightmares. After it happened I was afraid to go out in the streets on my own and I became like a hermit," he added.

The attack happened just as he was about to launch his autobiography Blitzed which told the story of rise and fall through London nightlife, including his own tragic slide into heroin addiction.

"I'm no angel but one thing I wouldn't think of doing is harming someone, even when I had a drug habit," he told the Standard.
