Dizzee Rascal, the 18 year old London garage star knifed in Ayia Napa last week, needed emergency surgery and spent two days in hospital, according to reports in this week's British press.

The critically acclaimed MC refused to comment on the incident, NME said, though quoted a press officer saying "He's with his manager and is absolutely fine, though he's pretty shaken up".

The stabbing is likely to have lasting implications for the East End star, judging by the example of acid techno guru D.A.V.E. The Drummer (aka Henry Cullen) who told Skrufff in an earlier interview that he'd felt unsafe for years, after being stabbed on a South London street when he was just 15.

"It felt like I'd been punched really hard in the guts, I didn't actually suss that I'd been stabbed until the blood started running down my legs," said Henry.

"I remember not being able to breathe and that was when I really started to panic, thinking 'Fucking hell, I'm dying.' I could have died on the spot and very nearly did, they had to resuscitate me on the operating table."

Dizzie Rascal's debut album Boy In Da Corner is released on July 21st in the UK only.
