So Solid's G Man Gets 4 Years for Gun Crime

Jason Joab Philips aka G Man was sentenced to four years in prison this week after being found guilty of possessing a gun and live ammunition on the streets of Central London.

The So Solid rapper thanked the judge as he was led away to the cells though his lawyers are reportedly considering an appeal against his c. The pop star was arrested last November after being chased through the West End by cops who suspected he'd been involved in drug dealing just off Leicester Square. The court heard that G Man tossed his gun onto a pile of rubbish as he ran though police later found his DNA on the gun's handle.

"Quite apart from the work you do in the music world, you are in a position from the way in which you have grown up in this town to know the immense dangers that there are in having that sort of weapon, Judge James Wadsworth told him as he sentenced him.

"I suspect you had it out of bravado and the thrill of having it, rather than the intention of using it. But the danger remains nonetheless" (BBC Online).

Fellow So Solid member Shane Neil spent 4 months on remand after being arrested as a result of the same incident though the charges against him were dismissed two weeks ago and he walked free.
