So Solid singer Lisa Maffia confounded expectations this week by announcing she'll be performing live at top London queer club G.A.Y. this weekend (August 2) at the Astoria.

Her return to the London venue is particularly significant since she last played there with So Solid two years ago when two members of the crowd were shot and wounded.

"It's a totally different crowd from the one she usually gets so we're confident there won't be any trouble," an Astoria spokesperson told The Mirror.

"We have, however, increased security just to be on the safe side."

Whether the rest of the So Solid Crew will be attending Mafffia's GAY gig remains unclear though it seems unlikely, judging by Harvey's no-show when his girlfriend Aleesha from Mis-teeq performed there last September.

"I don't want no man lusting after me," said Harvey at the time.

"I believe in Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." (NME)

Meanwhile in Ayia Napa, another 21 year old Brit, Rudi Gaston, was stabbed and critically wounded on Wednesday (July 30), while leading venue Club Ice cancelled all So Solid gigs for the rest of the season.
