Sniffer Dogs Separate Suspicious Friends

Introducing random sniffer dog searches in schools means cannabis smokers often find themselves isolated, according to Sussex policeman PC Andy Hart, a school drugs liaison officer.

Speaking to a local newspaper in Brighton, PC Hart said the dogs often pick out students who've simply been in close proximity with cannabis users, focusing the authorities' attention on those who mix with druggies.

"Where this has happened in schools elsewhere, known users have been ostracise," said PC Hart.

"No one wants to sit next to them."

The three schools involved are Blatchington Mill, Cardinal Newman and Hove Park, though curiously all three claim they don't have particularly worse drug problems than any other schools in the South Coast area.
