With the major success of Scratch all over the world from Japan, to Australia and New Zealand, to a 15 major city sell-out tour of the US, Hive Creative in conjunction with the producers of Scratch in the US, will present Scratch 2003 - an annual Hip Hop festival in Australia - with dates across Australia from November 25th - December 7th.

"A thrilling celebration of art over commerce" (LA Weekly), the highly acclaimed Scratch feature length film takes you from the birth of Hip Hop culture in the South Bronx in the 70s, when pioneering DJs began extending breaks on their party records (which helped inspire break dancing and rap) to the invention of scratching and beat-juggling vinyl, to the recent explosion of the musical movement called turntablism.

In December 2002, the first Scratch Australian tour took place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, with the film screening and awesome live shows featuring DJs Qbert, J-Rocc and the Original Jazzy Jay.

The concept behind the annual Scratch festivals in Australia is a three-part cultural event, representing and celebrating the various elements of Hip Hop:

"Watch It" - Film Screenings
Featuring three films - two chosen from the Sundance film festival this year, as well as Scratch.

"Work It" - Workshops & Discussion Panel
Workshops and discussion panels involving key Australian Hip Hop artists and industry, open to all ages.

"Get Down With It" - The Live Show
The Scratch live shows will feature headline performances from two of Hip Hop's groundbreaking artists from the USA, both from the Scratch film. The Scratch live shows feature a fully integrated and choreographed visual component to the music.

The Scratch Hip Hop Festivals will take place in Sydney and Melbourne, with live shows in Brisbane and Perth, from November 25th - December 7th.
