Promoters for Homelands festival are putting a positive spin on long term weather forecasts for Winchester next weekend, declaring this week "grab your shades and splash your sun cream on, the BBC's Bill Giles predicts a 'very warm' weekend for the Bank Holiday Homelands extravanganza."

Their sunny suggestions were based on the veteran forecaster's 30 day prediction, though failed to mention Giles' admission that 'this could be a nightmare weekend for the forecasters', a point rival experts at The Weather Channel (weather.co.uk) appear to confirm.

According to their website at weather.co.uk,

Saturday 24 is set to be chilly with showers in Winchester, they predict, with overnight lows sinking down to 8ºC. Conditions beforehand are also ominously wet, with rain forecast for 6 out of the next 8 days.

Weather considerations aside, this year's line-up promises the usual vast selection of superstar DJ talent, with The Chemical Brothers, Oakenfold, Judge Jules and Sasha headlining. The most interesting tent is likely to be Time Out's Arena 5, which host sets from Grandmaster Flash, Jacques Lu Cont, Errol Alkan and Two Many DJs (though Two Many DJs' cut and paste bootleg formula already appears to be wearing thin).
