Radio 1 DJs lending their support to an Amnesty International campaign against the international arms trade have been given permission to appear at a forthcoming London event, on condition that they don't speak about the issue.

"BBC DJs have to be politically neutral," a Radio 1 spokesperson told the Times.

"They have to be careful about speaking out about political treaties."

UK Garage, R&B stars The Dreem Tream are involved in the 'Controlling Arms to Save Lives event, a 4 day music and arts festival which takes place at the Ica between the 14th and 18th of October. The ban reportedly came after fellows guest Jo Whiley said in an interview that she would support 'anything to bring attention to the damage done and lives wrecked by the unregulated arms trade' (The Times).
