Radio One's week long series of gigs and club nights One Live will be taking place in Brighton this month, just week's after a new guide book suggested the seaside town is plagued with violence.

Crap Towns- the 50 Worst Places To Live in the UK, claimed the renowned British holiday resort splits into two distinct categories, one super-luxurious, the other 'an ordinary. Grimy South-East town with council estates and young Mums with love-bites and screaming kids and cod-eyed young men drenched in aftershave and cheap gold ' (Big Issue).

"They roam up and down the seafront on a Friday night," Crap Towns warned. "Looking for someone from the other half to smack in the mouth."

Headlining Radio 1's Friday night bash is Pete Tong (spinning from the beach between 6 and 9pm) plus Basement Jaxx, Tim Westwood and Chris Coco at various other locations.

Judge Jules, Dave Clarke, LFO and a whole host of big name DJs and bands also appear throughout the week (October 27-November 2). Pete Tong also plays the Paramount Comedy Rooms in Brighton the week before, on (Thursday) October 23.
