London cops this week admitted they'd been warned in advance about Easter's Twice As Nice shooting at Turnmills, in which one man was wounded and another shot to death.

According to media reports, an anonymous caller range informer hotline Crimestoppers several days before the event and provided specific information that a gang was planning to ambush rivals at the event, though promoters refused to cancel the party, prompting police to leave an empty squad car outside to act as a deterrent. In the event, 8 men burst into the club and carried out their raid as predicted.

Police press officers told the Standard they'll be staging an investigation to look into how the tip off was handled, and conceded ' we accept there are some lessons to be learned but do not wish to pre-empt the outcome of the review."

Turnmills chief Danny Newman (the younger brother of Tall Paul) defended his club in a later issue of the Standard, pointing out "those guys (the gunmen) weren't our regulars.

"With half a dozen shootings over that weekend, this is a London problem, not a Turnmills problem."

Twice As Nice, meanwhile, will be in Brighton this bank holiday weekend (on Friday May 2) with Matt Jam Lamony headlining their event at the Zap Club.
