Pete Tong has ignored official UK government advice to stay away from Singapore and will be DJing at Zouk this Friday (May 9) he told Skrufff this week.

"Of course SARS is a great concern and I have gone to great lengths to convince myself that travelling there is a reasonable risk," said Pete.

"I've spoken to Paul Oakenfold and his crew who've just been through the region and I'm taking similar precautions to the ones they took. People are still going to clubs in Singapore and aren't wearing masks, the promoters are also on the case."

According to Australian website Inthemix.com.au, Zouk have started screening clubbers for SARS symptoms as they enter and are also using disposable cups throughout the club.

"I wouldn't go to Hong Kong or China right now, Paul told me he wouldn't return there either, even though he recently played in China, just before the government owned up about the situation," Pete revealed.

"But studying the WHO (World Health Organisation) website, the situation in Singapore has certainly improved and I don't want to panic."

204 cases have been reported (up until May 3).

Pete plays at Zouk on the latest leg of Pacha Ibiza's 30 birthday celebrations.
